Ya i know its been a year now since i have posted anything or written on my blog. There is quite a lot of work and quite a lot of experience to write as well, but unfortunately i can’t according to company rules. anyways will somehow try posting some work as soon as possible. For now i will post a logo bonbon cafe. actually this was not the logo approved. I’m posting this because after a long time i have worked on a logo that gave me some amount of joy. So have fun.

Bengaluru Habba – A dream come true

Yet another dream come true for me. I remember during my college days when habba 1s began i happened to go to ambedkar bhavan for kunnakudi vaidyanathans show. I realised i did not have tickets. My friend vinila was with me. We travelled really far to watch the maestro perform. I always heard my teachers tell me “any sound u make through your mouth he can reproduce it on his violin”. i asked the volunteer if i can get in without ticket. He said im sorry but i cant. I was disappointed and vinila said u want to watch the show rite, i will take you in. I asked how. She said just stand next to me rest u dnt bother. It was 7(usually when habba starts) people started rushing in, vinila held my hand pulled me sneaked through every1 and we got into the auditorium, took a left and went straight to the corners. The volunteers were collecting passes from every1, i dint want to get embarassed getting caught for no passes. they saw us from far and gave a smile. Lucky enough to have watched the show without trouble. Finally Strings and Indian Ocean performing together. The year after that Rahul sharmas show… etc etc etc.

And after being a habba fan i end up working for habba, isn’t it a dream come true? with lot of memories behind and giving my 100% to an event that i always followed.

Enough of stories. So this is how it started. The idea was already cracked by the rediff team. Escape was the concept. Ideas emerged , escape to habba of course butr escape from where. instant answers i think it was escape from work, boredom and idiot box. the route approved, the concept and ideas approved. deadline? was deadly. Uday gave us deadly deadlines. !st the event calendar akshay and i do a brainstorming on how to arrange the complex excel sheets( all creative guys hate that). We said lets convert this into visual. Akshay said lets have a map, i said fine, uday joined in, he started giving ideas, ok. ok. ok. all fine akshay said u do the illustration i do the table. I said cooleshwaraya namaha. collected references from the net on the venues and illustrated them the way i knew to illustrate it. im not a good illustrator but i mange to manage it. finally it looked wow. ok will post it soon.

With the deadly deadlines hanging on the neck, Arun finished all the illustrations within no time, His prime inspiration from shilo (her works are really awesome, she has an identity. Check her works online please.):). Arun shankar with his super duper cool lines:), and Uday was a really good entertainer through out the project, it was really fun working under him :0 and yes lot of drinks:0 thanks ponnapa and no weekends as well:(. Well thanks to the entire studio team of rediff. Subhash, Christy, Sudheer, Arun, Jetto, Sarva and ofcourse deepa and rakesh. They stayed in office without sleep making artworks. Thanks a lot fellaws.

Xylys 1st shot, 1st shoot

What more to say when you get to give your best for one of the best watch brand also when it turns out to be my 1st ever Ad. Wooooo i have to tell ll of you that it was a great experience. Thanks to Arun my boss for giving me opportunity, Akshay and Ashwin my super art Directors who always saved my Arse when i needed. They all new that this is my 1st experience but never did they let me know that. Arun called me one day before the shoot and said ” dude don’t be scared, You are going to shoot with Radha, If you know what you want he will give it to you. Good Luck.” Akshay and Ashwin always telling me what to do and what not to , Colours, Colour correction detailing etc. The ad may just look like a simple product shot, i used to think the same way ‘ Oh man what the hell is that, Just a product’ Now i totally understand what goes into it, Art Direction, Lighting, Angle, What is important and what not. Wooooo and there’s lot more. Ofcourse as i always used to mention lots of inspiration needed… I happened to go through Breitling watches website thanks to Anil Singh for that link, the shots very close to that of Baroque lighting just inspired me so much that i forced myself to play with dark background. Unfortunately no yellow lighting in this sorry for that.

The most amazing moment is this. I happened to reach Mr. Radhakrishnans Magic Eye studio and discuss the shot with him. While we were free he happened to show me some of his works that he did for other agencies. I was so amused and so excited to know that a year ago i used to look at some of his works and learn lighting and compositing. I felt im meeting and working with people who always inspired me. Akshay – My super senior whose work i happened to see during my 2nd year of BFA and it inspired me so much that i went home and tried doing a super realistic hand illustration myself, although i had to steel a poster for that. I don’t regret for it. Ashwin – My first ever guide in the industry. When i happened to do my 1st internship i happened to meet ashwin, He was the 1st person to see my work and tell me ” Dude Ypu have a long way to go. Remember 1 thing Know what you are doing and always use this theory. Observe, Recall, Relate, Reinvent. Mr. Radha Krishnan whose work inspired me at later stage of my life while i started on Matte painting.

And 29th of September my 1st press ad release in Brand Equity, The print killed my excitement a bit when i saw the colours have not come out bright, Well printing is something that you cant really trust. Jo dikhta hai wo hamesha nahi milta hai. But still the ad looked neat. And moreover it was my 1st ever achievement, Im happy i gave my best, i hope to continue to do so. Oh god oh god oh god this thing is getting boring and self bragging, well rthats it folks will keep posting more work now.

here u go u will se my logos have become logopond style except kali kaliu( i guess the typeface is still very logopond style). flaws flaws flaws – the paper material for source is resource is not the right one. the logo belongs to a different genre and the paper to a different genre altogether. choose ur material right is the lesson here, if anybody hasn got it.

if anybody interested in real smoothies and healthy juices its time go have a look at addict juice bars, i can assure you its not any juice bars that you have come across in India. a business that’s totally targeted towards teenagers, addict has various cool and pure smoothies in their stores with names like kick it ups, super juice, etc etc. this is one of the interesting projects i worked on, and im still happy to work for them. the idea was psychedelic and symmetrical patterns which would throw out lot of energy visually. no more gyan, yeah the flaws right, the colour of the dress is not black in the original print and also the composition is slightly changed.
